I recently had the privilege of working on a very special project.
Meet Caroline.
This sweet baby only lived for a few months. Her mother wanted to remember her, so she commissioned me to create an image of her baby girl. It was an emotional piece and a gift for me to have in my life right now. She is pictured here being held by her father. For privacy reasons, I won't say her mother's name, but I was so impressed with the perspective and attitude that she chose to incorporate in this experience, and her openness in sharing her feelings. She loved Caroline despite the illnesses and the breathing tube. She actually insisted the tube be in the portrait, because to her, that was a part of Caroline, and she wanted to remember her just how she was.
These are the kind of projects that remind me that art truly does change lives (especially the artist's!) and adds meaning and feeling to the world.

I love this one! So special!
ReplyDeleteWow, totally crying. This is a beautiful piece. And of course, as a parent, it is just your worst nightmare. But it is amazing to hear how people survive such difficult things and thrive and help others grow through their stories and experiences. You are so talented, Anna.
