As many of you know, or in case you don't know, Dave has been given the awesome opportunity to research with an amazing researcher and assistant professor at BYU, Doctor John Kauwe. His research has been analyzing the rate of progression of Alzheimer's disease in relation to specific genes that have been found to influence this rate of progression.
The BYU newspaper, The Daily Universe, has done an article on Dave and some of the other students in the lab. Check it out here: http://universe.byu.edu/node/15808
This is what was said about Dave in the article.
David Peterson, 24, an exercise science major from Salt Lake City who will also be attending, encourages students to get involved with research because it has the ability to enhance the education experience.
“It is exciting to be a part of something big,” Peterson said. “Although my contribution to our knowledge of Alzheimer’s disease may be somewhat small, it is satisfying to know that these findings in the future may contribute to the reduction of suffering due to Alzheimer’s.”
Dave is getting excited to apply for medical school this June. His MCAT test will be on May 26th. Keep him in your thoughts and prayers as he pushes through this last stretch. It is hard to study aaaalllll day every day.
Random side note: hasn't the weather been amazing the last two days? I almost forgot what it was like to feel the warmth of the sun. I only wish it came a month sooner... oh Utah and your crazy weather.
Nick and Dave having a happy magical time. This is for you, Linda.
