Graduating

Hooray! Today is the day of days! Dave is graduating today and I couldn't be more proud.

I can't wait to see him in his ceremonial grandeur up on the stage.  Last night Dave and I decided that whoever designed the cap in cap-and-gown must have had a sense of humor. "Hmmm...I think I'll put a square atop my head. Oh, and maybe a little tassel-y thing just for the fun of it. I don't mind that it gets in my eyes every five seconds." There is something about funny traditions like a cap and gown that make you feel special. It makes you feel like a part of something. At any rate, I am so excited for him to be done.  That senioritis was getting dangerously serious. I think it was after his first medical school interview that we knew he was done for.  He is so excited to learn about his passion, that anything else seems a bit like a waste of time. He's got a crush on medicine and won't be entertaining any other intellectual love interests.  One of Dave's gifts is his focus and passion. He'll be a great doctor one day.

doing some warm ups for his graduation smile

We're getting more and more excited about our future these days. We've decided on Duke Medical School and have been pleased to discover that no one has anything but good things to say about North Carolina.  Green. Rolling hills. Southern hospitality. Cheap housing.  Furniture capitol of the US? We'll take that too. Not to mention he'll be receiving a first-rate medical education, setting him up to match with a great residency. We'll be pulling out with our honda civic and mini uhaul trailer mid-late July.

BYU has been good to us. So many happy memories, wonderful people, delicious food (thank you communal, tucanos, pizzaria 712, bombay house, etc) and we know we're going to miss it. We're going to miss our friends. A lot. And those snow-capped mountains were always a site for sore eyes. But we are feel ready to be real grown-ups (at least Dave does; I'm getting closer...maybe...). We feel grateful for this new opportunity and can't wait to go on our next big adventure.

doesn't he look great in a skinny tie?

Congratulations Dave!
